Description

Our client, a large Finance/Banking institution is looking for a Data Mgmt Senior Analyst (AVP). This role is specific to supporting market risk data analysis and risk control globally within the Chief Data Office and focus on governance, initiatives and framework within the department, including Governance Risk Compliance (Manager Control Assessment) analysis and review, regulatory and audit support as well as project/initiative support. The candidate applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires an in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where the development of an approach/taking of action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assists in leading Chief Data Office (CDO), Finance and Risk efforts to provide accurate information of the highest quality to customers, shareholders and regulators, grounded in developing and instituting the most efficient production processes.
  • Participates in defining and establishing appropriate data standards, understanding the data needs of regulatory and internal reporting, the acquisition of that data, the financial reconciliation and Data Quality measurement of that data and fixing issues at source through the Issue Management Resolution process and other transformation programs.
  • Works to ensure that functions are compliant with The Companys Data Management Policy
  • Provides regular status updates to Senior Management and Stakeholders.
  • Responsible for coordinating control activities for the reconciliations and proof functions performed daily by the group.
  • Revises and updates to department procedures are required.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding the Company, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
 
Qualifications:
  • 5-8 years' of experience
  • Advanced Business Analyst skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access databases, Microsoft Excel and other reporting software is preferred.
  • SQL and/or VBA experience also preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, be proactive and motivated individual.
  • Intermediate knowledge of financial products, trading, and market risk highly desirable.
  • Comparable experience or qualifications from non-banking industries for other-wise qualified individuals will be considered.
 
Education:
  • Minimum Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience.

  • Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in their area of specialization. This role plays an integral part in work and the performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.
  • The ideal candidate will have Trading and financial product knowledge.
