Description

The Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business, a leading business school in immersive learning and career preparation, seeks a highly qualified accounting professor as chair of the Department of Accounting & Computer Information Systems. Applicants with teaching and research specializations in accounting, audit, tax, and/or information systems are preferred, but applicants with other specializations are also encouraged to apply. Requirements include an enthusiastic commitment to accounting education and teaching excellence; demonstrated ability to publish in relevant academic and/or practitioner journals. Candidates must be scholarly academics and instructionally current to be considered for this position. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. or DBA in accounting from an AACSB accredited institution.  Collegiate teaching experience required, and professional certification will be preferred. This position is contingent upon funding.

In addition to research and a reduced teaching load, responsibilities include leading the reaffirmation of AACSB accreditation efforts in accounting, managing personnel and processes, overseeing budget and equipment/facilities, making teaching and committee assignments, managing course scheduling, engaging actively with program advisory councils, and planning, evaluating, and developing programs. Moreover, the Department Chair serves as the visionary who fosters an environment of shared governance, works collaboratively with the Dean in facilitating engagement with external stakeholders, the accounting advisory board, and serves on the College’s Administrative Council.  Depending on the record of accomplishments, candidates may qualify for an endowed professorship (Allen McConnell Distinguished Chair of Research and Practice) which provides a salary supplement.

About the Department

The accounting and CIS department consists of eleven full-time faculty members with approximately 160 undergraduate majors and 18 students in the Master of Accounting (MAcc). The Monfort College of Business has 30 full time faculty with 900 students. The college programs include Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Finance, General Business, Management and Marketing.  In addition, we have a joint program with Mathematical Sciences in Software Engineering and a growing online MBA. The accounting program is in the process of transitioning its MACC program to being offered online as well. The college is accredited in both Business Administration and Accounting by AACSB International.  MCB’s Accounting Program is proud of its alums who founded or led successful accounting or consulting firms such as Anton Collins Mitchell (now BDO), Plante Moran, or Bradley Consulting (then Stratagem).
