Vice President, Valley Forge Office

Regional Vice President – East Region

 JOB SUMMARY

This insurance company sells commercial property and casualty insurance and sells through independent agents. There are three regions, West, Central, and East, with 17 branch offices. This position is in the East Region. This position is in the East Region and writes about $70,000,000 in commercial premiums.  This is an expansion territory. This company is known for its relationship building and strives to hire and retain the best people by engaging, developing, and rewarding its employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs all branch operations and the company’s value proposition to achieve profitable growth in the assigned branch territory in alignment with the one and three-year branch plans and corporate operating and strategic plans.
  • Manages all aspects of the branch plan including new and renewal business, appropriate rate levels, quality of the book of business, and key expenses in each department.
  • Embraces existing goals that have been established – profit, production, people, rate, retention, and business goals.
  • Evaluates market conditions and recommends changes in agency representation within the assigned territory.
  • Serves as Chief Marketer for the branch and focuses on sales.
  • Identifies underrepresented geographical areas to maximize the spread of risk.
  • Oversees underwriting in the branch and is occasionally involved in underwriting for individual accounts and rates on certain lines of business.
  • Manages and develops branch leadership team.
  • Directs and mentors 25 or fewer staff – 4 Direct Reports – Underwriting Directors, Marketing Director, Administrator – and others, Underwriters and Marketing Reps.
  • Builds relationships with “customers” (independent agents), staff, and the community.
  • Actively participates in local community organizations and Big I (independent insurance organization).
  • Leads the branch through effective consultative use of corporate departments and integrating the company’s National Life Company into branch marketing efforts.


Requirements

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Marketing, or Risk Management preferred or equivalent.
  • Ten years of Commercial Property and Casualty experience is a must.
  • Managed a branch office or business unit preferred.
  • Proficient as an Operations Leader with a sales strategy mindset.
  • Must know the Independent Agency System.
  • Knows commercial insurance, marketing territories, and independent agency relationships.
  • Professional insurance designations are highly preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of marketing and sales.
  • Superior communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage, direct, lead, mentor, and coordinate others.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical abilities.
  • The vast majority of travel is in the footprint of the branch – Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey. Travel will be 75% initially while out meeting our clients and then will become 50%. There is not necessarily overnight travel. The position comes with a car.
  • Travel requires a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards will be required.
  • Willing to relocate and live within a 50-mile radius from Pottstown, PA.
