Summit Medical Group in Knoxville, Tennessee continues our commitment to measurable quality health outcomes for our patients on our organization's path to value.  Our organization is seeking a strategic and collaborative leader as Vice President of Value Based Care.  The successful candidate (along with Physician Owner Leadership, our CEO and Executive Leadership team) must build an internal culture where quality outcomes are the highest priority, including the belief that value leads to better healthcare.  The successful candidate's skillset will include VBC subject matter expertise and organizational understanding to create business models, operating models, and care models to succeed in aligned payor contracts toward our continued transformation to value.  The VBC executive will lead a strong and talented team of managers and directors who will perform best with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style, based on their own level of expertise.   This position is a critical part of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO.  This is a high profile position within our organization as VBC is one of the top two (2) strategic objectives defined by our board of directors.  This position will require current residency or willingness to relocate to the Knoxville, TN area due to the demands ot the position.

Job duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Provides program leadership in the development and deployment of administrative resources required by any payor agreement which includes revenues derived by quality or activity other than fee for service
  • Overall executive leadership for all value based care contracts 
  • Serve as primary liaison to the SMG Managed Care Committee
  • Collaborate closely with SMG Executive Team to develop and implement a strategy to support transition to Fee For Value
  • Oversee Care Coordination Programs
  • Oversee fulfillment of reporting requirements of CMS and other governmental agencies
  • Direct indicated accreditation activities for SMG (example, NCQA or AAAHP accreditation of ACOs)
  • Identify opportunities for service improvements, cost savings and execute plan to achieve such
  • Interface with Executive/Senior leaders in the medical and business community
  • Review managed care contracting strategy, terms, conditions, functional requirements and deliverables
  • Liaison with healthcare and general community to educate, brand and seek buy-in with Summit Medical Group’s vision of Value Based care
  • Review financial analysis and participate in cross-development teams to analyze business opportunities and address critical issues
  • Accountable for functional area budget and expense management activities through effective planning, monitoring and forecasting
  • Actively participates in site-level Quality Improvement Activities. Each employee will contribute to the continual evaluation site performance as well as the implementation and measurement of improvement activities that increase the quality of care provided to patients.
  • Responsible for talent management within functional area to include attraction, development, engagement, motivation and retention.

Requirements

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT:

  • Exceptional skills of independence, organization, communication, problem-solving, professional interaction, and human relation skills, as well as analytical skills required.
  • Ability to work within specified timeframe requirements.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Day travel  required

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree required: MBA or Master’s Degree in HealthCare Administration or health-related field preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 8 years managed healthcare experience
  • Extensive experience (8 years, preferred) in provider contracting and network development involving complex hospital systems, integrated delivery systems and large physician groups (IPAs and PPMs) etc., including risk arrangements
  • Excellent knowledge of hospital and managed care finance
  • Strong knowledge of managed care (e.g. network design, products, customer service, provider communities, etc.) regulatory environment and compliance issues (e.g. NCQA accreditation issues, credentialing, delegation and oversight standards, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to function in a heavily matrixed environment
  • Proven ability to foster collaboration, value others perspective and gain support and buy-in for organization proposals
  • Proven success in managing growth and charge of business operations.  Proven ability to drive and lead an organization through significant change
  • Strong organizational and analytical skill that result in conclusive recommendations
  • Ability to drive results, think strategically and implement a national strategy
  • Ability to establish community-based partnerships with providers and other stakeholders
  • Proficient with Excel, Word and presentation applications
  • Technical/Functional expertise: Contracting, Negotiating, Provider Services, Financial management
