Want to help tell the story of New York City to the world?

At NYC & Company, New York City’s official tourism organization, that’s both our pleasure and our responsibility. We are a team of proud New Yorkers and New Yorkers at heart who love representing the five boroughs to the globe. Through writing, film, photography and design, NYC & Company’s Creative/Content Group produces inspiring work that reflects New York City’s energy and diversity. That work can be seen in a range of digital and social channels, including the Webby Award–winning; across key programs like NYC Restaurant Week®; and through partnerships with leading tourism and hospitality organizations at home and worldwide. We champion collaboration, and we are looking for a like-minded team player to join us.

Our mission has always been to help build prosperity and to share the positive image of New York City with the world. Now, in the wake of 2020’s paradigm shifts, that mission has become more urgent than ever. As the City continues the reopening process, we at NYC & Company are charged with helping to ensure that all New Yorkers benefit from a renewed economy, in particular those in BIPOC communities who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic. In pursuit of that goal, we are committed more than ever to featuring diverse voices in our channels who speak to NYC’s many cultures. We are seeking applicants for Senior Director – Multicultural Content to assist us in this mission.

The successful candidate will bring a diverse perspective to the position and have a proven record of producing multicultural travel-based content, preferably with a focus on New York City. They will have experience negotiating with and managing content partnerships with multicultural media organizations, along with a deep network of diverse contributors ready to deploy in neighborhoods across the five boroughs. We are looking for an experienced senior-level strategist who has a sharp eye for what makes a fascinating story. Applicants must be team players, willing to collaborate, and able to consistently deliver high-quality work on tight deadlines.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Creating content with a focus on NYC’s BIPOC communities and cultural diversity

• Securing and developing diverse media and content partnerships

• Advocating for and championing BIPOC voices in our coverage

• Recruiting a network of diverse contributors who can authentically speak to the character of the City

• Performing regular editorial duties, including reporting, writing and editing; developing pitches; maintaining an editorial calendar; and building content for publication

• Partnering with Creative/Content team leads and department heads on a range of projects and campaigns

• Collaborating with digital media and social teams on daily posts, and assisting on influencer initiatives

• Passion for diversity, equity and inclusion

• A proven record of producing compelling, multicultural, travel-based content

• A background in developing and executing content partnerships

• A network of diverse contributors in communities across the five boroughs

• Superb editorial judgment and strong knowledge of New York City

• 8+ years of journalism or agency experience

• The ability to write and edit in Spanish is a plus

• Familiarity with digital platforms, including social and email

• Excellent analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

• Exceptional organization and communication skills

• The ability to remain calm under pressure

• BA degree or higher

• Passion for the five boroughs and a commitment to contributing to the City’s recovery
