Description

The Department of General Surgery at Cleveland Clinic is currently seeking Staff Surgeon candidates to join our growing Section of Acute Care Surgery and Trauma. The Acute Care Surgery and Trauma Section practices at three Cleveland Clinic locations:  Akron General Hospital–Level 1 Trauma Center, Hillcrest Hospital–Level 2 Trauma Center and Main Campus Surgical Intensive Care Unit.  Our Acute Care Surgeons have the opportunity to rotate at all three locations.

Both Akron General and Hillcrest Hospitals are tertiary teaching trauma centers with over 500 beds each.  Since formally joining the Cleveland Clinic in 2015, Akron General continues to grow rapidly and is a leader in its market. A new $49 million emergency department has recently been completed with state of the art trauma resuscitation rooms. Our Acute Care Surgeons at Hillcrest and Akron General Hospitals provide trauma, comprehensive surgical and trauma ICU care, and emergency general surgery services.

An interest in an elective general surgery practice is welcome. An active research interest in general surgery and trauma is also encouraged and will be supported. We are committed to the teaching of residents and students in patient care and research. A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience will be with the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.

Cleveland Clinic is a nonprofit, multi-specialty academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. Today, with nearly 1,300 beds on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus and 6,026 beds system-wide, Cleveland Clinic is one of the largest and most respected hospitals in the country.
